About

A college training partner for an industry-built apprenticeship.

SMaRTech sets the industry standard; participating colleges serve as training partners delivering the classroom instruction — a model built to extend across Orange County.

Training partners

Participating colleges deliver the Related Supplemental Instruction that accompanies paid on-the-job training with employer partners. North Orange Continuing Education in Anaheim hosts the current cohort, and additional Orange County colleges are being added as the program grows.

Programs focus on job-ready skills, career advancement, and pathways into local employment — the same goals a registered apprenticeship is designed to deliver.

The SMaRTech program

SMaRTech is an industry-developed apprenticeship for non-electrical solar and EV charging maintenance, with certification issued through the SMaRTech program. It was built with the companies that maintain these assets, so the competencies map to real service contracts rather than a generic curriculum.
